Angelina County, Texas

As of the 2010 census, the population was 86,771. The county seat is Lufkin, formed in 1846 from Nacogdoches County. It is named for a Hasinai Native American woman who assisted early Spanish missionaries and was named Angelina by them. 

Cherokee County, Texas

Cherokee County, according to the 2010 census, has a population of 50,845. The county seat is Rusk. The county was named for the Cherokee, who lived in the area before being expelled in 1839. Rusk, the county seat, is 130 miles southeast of Dallas and 160 miles north of Houston. Cherokee County comprises the Jacksonville, TX Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Tyler-Jacksonville, TX Combined Statistical Area.

Panola County, Texas

The 2010 census count was 23,796. The county seat is Carthage, originally developed for cotton plantations. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 821 square miles (2,130 km2), of which 802 square miles (2,080 km2) are land and 20 square miles (52 km2) (2.4%) are covered by water.

Shelby County, Texas

As of the 2010 census, its population was 25,448. The county was created in 1835 as a municipality of Mexico and organized as a county in 1837. It is named for Isaac Shelby, a soldier in the American Revolution who became the first governor of Kentucky. The county seat is Center.
